Home School Agreement
The school recognises that parents are the first teachers and it is by working together and setting a good example we shall enable children to gain maximum benefit from education at St Mary’s Catholic High School.
The Parents/Guardians/Carers will:
- Support the school's Catholic ethos.
- See that their child attends school every day, on time and is properly equipped, in full school uniform and advise the school if their child is absent and providing evidence upon their return.
- Make the school aware of any concerns or problems (including medical) that might affect their child’s work or behaviour.
- Support the school’s policies and guidelines for behaviour.
- Support my child in homework and other opportunities for home-learning.
- Attend parents’ meetings and discussions about their child’s progress.
- Take an interest in and actively support their child's life at school.
The Pupil will:
- Develop their knowledge, understanding, love and practice of the school's Catholic ethos.
- Be mindful of and uphold the principles and ethos of the school's Mission Statement.
- Respect all members of the school community.
- Be committed to the school's core values of Welcome, Hard Work and Service.
- Attend school on time every day.
- Bring their school diary and all equipment needed each day.
- Abide by the school's rules on uniform, appearance, discipline, and the use of IT and electronic devices.
- Take responsibility for their own progress by participating fully in lessons and by completing homework on time and to the best of their ability.
- Respect school property and keep the school free from litter and graffiti.
The School will:
- Promote love and understanding for the Catholic Faith.
- Ensure that your child achieves their full potential as a values member of the school community.
- Keep you informed about general school matters and about your child's progress.
- Contact you if there is a problem about behaviour, attendance, punctuality, equipment of uniform.
- Set, mark and monitor homework.
- Arrange parents' meetings where progress will be discussed.
- Keep parents/carers informed about school curriculum and activities through letters, texts, newsletters and the school website.
- Promote and ensure high standards of work and behaviour, embodying our three core values: Welcome, Hard Work and Service.
