Year 8 Pupils Visit Croydon Library and Museum

Wednesday, 28th January 2026

Our Year 8 pupils visited Croydon Library and Croydon Museum as part of their third Curriculum Enrichment Day on Wednesday, 28th January.

Although many pupils already use their local library, the visit helped them understand the full range of services available. They learned that libraries are vital community hubs, offering free access to books, the internet, and trusted information, as well as providing safe, inclusive spaces that support wellbeing and lifelong learning. Pupils who were not yet members also received information on how to join.

After the library session, pupils explored Croydon Museum and the Croydon Archive, discovering why it is such an important resource for learning about the borough’s history. The Archive contains more than 1,200 collections and over 138,000 items, including newspapers, photos, maps, journals, and artefacts.

Pupils also visited The Sound of Croydon: Celebrating Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, an exhibition marking 150 years since the composer’s birth. It highlights Coleridge-Taylor’s remarkable musical journey, his international success, and his significant connection to Croydon’s cultural heritage.
