St Mary's Catholic High School

Year 11s leave in style!

Year 11 students completed their time at St Mary’s in real style, and deservedly so, as this group had both years of Key Stage 4 severely disrupted. Despite the setbacks to their GCSE and BTEC examination courses, students in this year group will be remembered for their positive attitude, engagement and resilience. During the enforced lockdowns, they actively engaged with remote learning, and since the return to school, their attendance has been remarkable - the highest of any Year 11 cohort for many years.

As well as taking the opportunity to say goodbye and thanks to their teachers, the day included a special final assembly led by Mr Shields along with Ms Arocas, Head of Year, and the Head Girl and Head Boy.

Communal lunch for all Year 11 students was served by their teachers, with celebratory cakes, one for each Year 11 tutor group, cut and distributed before the students departed for home.

The day was made memorable by Year 10 students who formed a guard of honour and warmly applauded as the senior students left the site, followed by an impromptu balloon launch on Woburn Road.

We give all our departing Year 11 students our very best wishes for the future as they depart for their various destinations.  We would like to thank them for all their hard work and commitment while at St Mary’s. They have been a truly remarkable year group.

We look forward to welcoming them back to collect their examination results on Thursday 12th August.
