On Thursday, 18^th June, Year 11 gathered together as a year group for their final liturgy of the year – an Affirmation Service, led by Mr Shields. This was a meaningful opportunity for pupils to reflect on their time at school, as they prepare to move on to the next stage of their journey, whether that be a new school, college, employment, or training. It was also a moment to acknowledge both their hopes and anxieties for the future.

Our affirmation service for school leavers was a faith-filled and significant occasion, bringing our community together to celebrate this important milestone. Rooted in our Catholic values, the service gave thanks for the unique gifts and achievements of each student, while encouraging them to move forward with confidence, hope, and trust in God’s guidance. Through prayer, reflection, and uplifting messages, pupils were invited to recognise their personal growth, strengthen their sense of belonging, and affirm one another as they embark on the next chapter of their lives.

Guided by shared values and inspired by the example of Our Mother Mary—whose quiet strength, deep faith, and compassion continue to lead us—students have developed a strong sense of care for others and unity within their year group. As their time in Year 11 came to a close, it was clear how much they have grown and achieved, both individually and collectively.

A particularly special moment came as pupils wrote messages in each other’s booklets. These heartfelt words of encouragement, friendship, and prayer reflected the lasting impact they have had on one another—memories and affirmations that will remain long after they have left.

Individually, each student has shone; together, through faith and friendship, they have truly become a shining light for themselves and for others.
