Year 10 Step Back in Time at The London Dungeon
As part of their final Day of Recollection on the Feast of Saints Peter and Paul, Year 10 pupils enjoyed an visit to the London Dungeon on Monday 29th June. Situated on the banks of the River Thames, opposite the Houses of Parliament, the attraction provided a unique opportunity for pupils to explore over a thousand years of London's history through a series of immersive and interactive experiences.
The visit formed part of a day dedicated to reflection, community and personal growth as students prepare for the important transition into Year 11. While the London Dungeon is renowned for its entertainment value, it also offers visitors an engaging insight into some of the most significant episodes in the capital's past, bringing history to life through theatrical performances, storytelling and special effects.
Throughout the visit, pupils journeyed through a range of historical scenes, encountering notorious figures from London's past and experiencing dramatic recreations of events such as the Great Fire of London and the Black Death. The combination of historical learning and live performance kept students engaged from beginning to end.
Many pupils found the experience both educational and memorable.
"It was much more realistic than reading about history in a textbook. The actors were brilliant and made every part of the tour feel real. It was scary at times, but really fun!"
"My favourite part was learning about the Great Fire of London. The special effects made it feel as though we were actually there. It helped me understand what people experienced at the time."
"The whole experience was exciting and different from any school trip I've been on before. I enjoyed spending time with friends and learning about London's history in such an interactive way."
Staff were delighted with the students' enthusiasm and exemplary behaviour throughout the visit. Pupils embraced every aspect of the experience, demonstrating curiosity, maturity and a willingness to engage with the historical themes presented.

The trip provided a fitting conclusion to Year 10's Days of Recollection and marks another important milestone as students look ahead to the challenges and opportunities of their final GCSE year. The memories made on the day – from moments of reflection to moments of laughter and excitement – will undoubtedly remain with them for years to come.
