Year 7: Talk The Talk Workshops

Talk The Talk: Supporting Year 7 Pupils Through Transition

On Tuesday 16th September 2025, expert trainers from Talk The Talk visited our school to work with our new Year 7 pupils. Through their Talk About Transition programme, students took part in half-day, oracy-based workshops designed to build self-confidence, resilience, and effective communication skills.

Packed with engaging activities, the sessions focused on helping pupils feel more confident, boost their self-esteem, and begin forming positive relationships with their new peers. The workshop is a key part of supporting students in their journey from primary to secondary school.

Transitioning to secondary school is a major milestone. While it brings new opportunities, it can also feel overwhelming—moving from the comfort of one classroom and one teacher to the scale and pace of secondary life. Programmes like Talk About Transition aim to ease this change, ensuring pupils feel equipped and empowered as they start this new chapter.

These workshops are part-funded by the Jack Petchey Foundation, established by Sir Jack Petchey CBE to celebrate and invest in young people. Since its creation, the Foundation has invested over £143 million in programmes supporting 11–25-year-olds across London and Essex.

We are proud to be part of this initiative and look forward to seeing our Year 7 pupils grow in confidence and thrive in their new environment.
