Student Leadership 2024 - 2025
On Thursday, 28th March, the whole school gathered for a special end of term Easter Liturgy which was followed by the announcement of the new student leadership team for 2024 – 2025. With a break from tradition, the new leadership team will take up their new roles at the start of the summer term, thus giving them a complete year of service to the school community, until they, in turn, hand over their responsibilities to the next team at the end of the spring term 2025.
Before announcing the new student leadership team, Mr Shields thanked the outgoing team for their service and wished them well as they now focused on preparing for their upcoming GCSE examinations.
The selection of the new student leaders at St Mary’s was, as always, carried out by a democratic vote by all pupils and staff. The Year 10 pupils who wished to be candidates applied in writing to be considered for their roles, and on Wednesday, 27th March, hustings were held across the whole school via Teams, with all pupils and staff voting for the student leaders having heard each of them outline what they would like to do in their year in office. Without delay, the votes were counted, and the results were announced the next day.
