Open Evening 2025
On Thursday, 9th October, our school held its annual Open Evening for prospective pupils who will start Year 7 in September 2026. This year group will join the school as it celebrates the 175th anniversary of the founding of St Mary’s in September 1851 – making our school one of the oldest Catholic state schools in the country.
The evening was a great success, with each faculty showcasing displays of their subjects across the school site. The success of the evening was due in no small part to the enthusiastic and dedicated support of our pupils, who gave guided tours of the school or acted as hosts in various classrooms, explaining the displays and describing the work they undertake in their courses. They are truly the best ambassadors for our school – each one showing the pride they have in being members of the St Mary’s school community.
Applications to join St Mary's Year 7 should be made via your Local Education Authority. Please be aware that the deadline for applying for a place in Year 7 at any maintained secondary school for September 2026 is 31st October 2025.
Parents who may have missed our Open Evening or one of our six Open Morning events are encouraged to contact the school to arrange a visit before 24th October.
