New Year 7 welcomed with Afternoon Tea
Tuesday, 10th March 2026
On Tuesday, 10th March, we welcomed our incoming Year 7 pupils for 2026/2027 and their families to St Mary’s for a special Afternoon Tea, held shortly after they received confirmation of their place for September.
Mr Shields greeted pupils and parents, marking the beginning of their journey as part of the St Mary’s community. Many attendees were already familiar with the school through older siblings, and the event provided an ideal opportunity to learn more about life at St Mary’s and to meet key staff who will support pupils as they transition from their primary schools.
A highlight of the afternoon was hearing from current Year 7 pupils, who shared their experiences of starting at St Mary’s and helped to reassure those who may feel anxious about moving to a new school. Our Head Girl, Nana, and Head Boy, Kachi, also spoke about the wide range of opportunities available and the strong pastoral support offered to all pupils. This event was among their final duties as Senior Prefects before the new student leadership team takes over after Easter.
We look forward to welcoming our new Year 7 cohort and their families and wish pupils every success in their final term at primary school.
