Set within a beautiful natural environment, the centre provided an ideal setting for pupils to develop their camping skills and prepare for their qualifying expeditions. For many, this was their first experience of outdoor living, making it an exciting and memorable milestone in their DofE journey.

Although the weather was generally favourable, pupils experienced some changeable conditions and rose to the occasion, coming well prepared and donning their waterproofs when needed.

The practice expedition is a compulsory element of the Silver Award and an optional part of the Bronze Award. It enables pupils to build physical endurance and mental resilience, while developing key expedition skills. Throughout the experience, pupils learned by doing—gaining confidence, overcoming challenges, and strengthening their teamwork and navigation abilities under the guidance of experienced supervisors.
