Recruitment Panel
It is recommended that there are at least seven governors on this panel as there may be difficulty in finding a time when everyone is available. Any governor with a potential conflict of interest must not serve on individual panels.
Associate Governors (not pupils) can be part of a recruitment panel, however the Board will decide whether they have voting rights. The majority of each panel will be governors.
The Headteacher cannot be involved in the process of recruiting a new Headteacher.
Quorum: There must ne a minimum of three governors. It is recommended that there is an odd number to avoid a tied vote. Decision making is by majority vote.
Panel members must attend both the shortlisting and interview stages.
At least on Governor on each panel must have completed Safer Recruitment training.
Pay Panel
Membership shall consist of at least three governors, not including staff governors. The Headteacher will attend in an advisory capacity and will withdraw when their salary is under discussion.
The Foundation Governors with the relevant skills are appointed by the Archbishop of Southwark (or any other person exercising Ordinary jurisdiction on his behalf) through the director or Education of the Archdiocese of Southwark Education Commission.
Parent and Staff Governors are elected by parent and staff vote respectively.
The Local Authority Governor is appointed by the Local Authority.
