Year 11 Residential Revision and Activity Weekend 2021


Dear Parent(s)/Carer(s),

I would like to invite your child to participate in our Year 11 Residential Revision and Activity Weekend in September. The the event will take place from Friday September 17th to Sunday September 19th 2021. We will leave just after lunch on the Friday, and return mid-afternoon on the Sunday.

The location of the weekend is Hindleap Warren Outdoor Centre and it is located near East Grinstead, East Sussex. It is approximately 1 hour from school by coach. You can find out more about the centre at this web address: https://hindleapwarren.org/

The purpose of the weekend is partly to help students catch-up on some of their learning in English, Maths and Science that may have been affected by the pandemic, and also to build relationships and a team ethos in the year group as they go into the most important year of their education so far.

The students will follow a programme of exciting and challenging activities alternated with revision sessions throughout the weekend. Activities might include zip-wire, rock-climbing, leap of faith, pioneering skills, Jacob’s ladder and a high-wire course. All accommodation, transport, food, tuition and activities are included.

The activity centre is specially designed for large groups of young people, and we will be the only school there at the time, which means that we will have access to the full range of facilities and services while we are there. Students will sleep in single-sex accommodation “zones” in rooms of no more than six.

We will hold information sessions for parents/carers so that you have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

The only payment we are requesting is a £20 voluntary contribution towards the visit, with the school covering the rest of the costs. Payment can be made on Parentpay or  via Paypoint at any shop with the Paypoint sign. If you wish to pay by Paypoint, please request a letter for this from Student Services. You have the option to pay this in instalments between now and the date of the trip. If you have difficulty paying for this trip, please contact us here at school, and we will work with you to find a suitable arrangement as we don’t wish this to be a barrier to participation.

We are funding the majority of this trip as we recognise the disruption that has been caused by COVID over the last year, and we would like everyone in the Year Group to participate.
